The Nudge—On trusting a feeling before you can explain it
I've been deep in the field guide for Rewilding Yourself — deadlines, decisions, layout. Then something interrupted all of it.
I had a solid plan finalized as I headed towards layout and design. Then something nudged me that felt like ‘not quite right.’ Really? I’m basically done with it and NOW something needs adjusting???
When an inner sensation keeps nagging, what do you do – carry on anyway or let curiosity lead?
I don’t know exactly what wants to happen, but I have a good sense of it. This isn’t about perfection or procrastination or questioning the value, although those topics are not strangers to me.
This is about listening to an inner pivot to redo a section of the Field Guide to my upcoming book Rewilding Yourself. I have to create them since they aren’t something I’ve previously done and can simply drop them in. So it will take time and effort.
And it’s the right move. I can feel it.
My linear mind questions this decision, of course, but there's no real battle anymore — I can feel it in my body. A full-body tingling, palpable and clear, once I've actually heard both points of view out. Otherwise the more linear, often critical, voice will hammer on and on, never leaving me in peace.
What I can see, even now as only the thoughtforms of this new pivot are beginning to show themselves, I can feel the inner YES that this is indeed a good move and worth the time and effort it takes to create it.
This really isn’t convenient. But alas, the pivot feels like the right move.
Maybe then I’ll be done.
If you want to follow along as the Field Guide takes shape — including whatever this pivot turns out to be — I write about the process here weekly on Substack. Join me there.
Warmly,
Suzanne
