My Concussion Story ...

In a twisted way, this is funny ....  such seems to be my life .... or my perspective.

My son is into high tech stuff, I am not so much but want to be able to share it a bit, so at his suggestion I bought a VR (virtual reality) headset earlier in 2021. He told me about the incredible creativity and art programs. And yes, it's totally trippy to draw/paint/create in 3D all around you. But that's another story ...

I've was longing for a bit of entertainment so I pulled it out. Hmmm ... interesting meditation program that people seem to love. I tried the intro - very cool and relaxing.

Oh, but look - there's PING PONG!! I love ping pong and you can play with others .... so ... WTH I shelled out $20. It was ranked REALLY high.

I opted for the Mountain Chalet setting ... large beam structure with massive windows where I could see huge mountains all around me and a gondola in the distance. Beautiful!  Yes, this is a great place to play. Immediately I got a few requests to play a game with someone online, but thought I'd better try one on my own first. So Mr. AI (Artificial Intelligence), let's play.

It was fun .... until he lobbed one and I went for a backhand slam. My mistake. Had there been a real table there to catch me, I would've made the shot, I'm sure, but there wasn't and with my momentum I flew outside of my designated safe zone and crashed through furniture. I'm pretty sure I just hit my head on the table but I don't know. And skinned my knee (on the rug, if that tells you anything - yes I was wearing pants).

Kevin came running, hearing the commotion and when he arrived I was in a fetal position trying to figure out if I was ok. No blood, that's good.

Anyway, turned out I got a concussion. Fortunately I maintained consciousness and opted out of a hospital visit.

And yes, I will play ping pong again, but a bit more cautiously. At least you don't have to chase all the balls ... that's cool. :)
